Horizontal innovation and ambidextrous organization: a new innovation model applied in a mature industrial company

Objective of the study: Analyze how Horizontal Innovation enables a company to produce radical and incremental innovations, making it ambidextrous.Methodology/approach: The research is case study at mature Brazilian that puts based on its Employee Suggestion System (ESS) into practice. A total 18 interviews were conducted, including: all 4 directors 10 managers organization, in addition 2 coordinators researchers.Originality/Relevance: paper creates defines concept Innovation: type innovation originates from employees, usually stemming an ESS. shows, continual ESS operations, can achieve ambidexterity systematically incremental, products processes.Main results: produces innovations as well ones, although latter occur more frequently, lead Innovations. systematic search for Innovations paves way become ambidextrous, promoting, with same competence, these two types innovation.Theoretical/methodological contributions: contributes debate defends viability innovative ambidexterity, new insights clarify culture stimulates influence ambidextrous behavior employees through InnovationPractical implications: proposed described, reinforcing value important management tool. comparisons contrasts others best practices benchmarking.
